The Role
*You must be living and eligible to work in Ontario for this role.
As VFX Editor you will be responsible for the ingestion and conform of live action plates from supplied EDLs and maintaining the editorial timeline across multiple projects. You will work closely with the production team, 2d leads and I/O to manage all incoming and outgoing media in the VFX pipeline, from the turnover of shots through to delivery. You assemble VFX shots and will support running the screening room for internal dailies sessions as well as external client reviews when necessary and final submissions
You have excellent attention to detail, are well organized and have strong communication skills. You are committed to working with the pipeline team to collaborate on improving workflow efficiencies and data management, including colour-space and shot management. You help ensure Untold Studios is at the forefront of technical innovation.
We are committed to supporting you and your ongoing development. We will work closely with you to establish your personal progression plan. You are never on your own.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Setting up new Film & Episodic projects from the ground up, including both ingest and deliverables pipelines, working closely with Supervisors and referencing the client tech-spec throughout.
Where required, providing full Conform support to Advertising projects, working with rushes and generating our own plates.
Ingestion of client-supplied plates and media, ensuring all materials are correctly received, organised and available to the team.
Setting up shots for artists, including frame ranges, offline references, audio, and any retime or reposition information.
Creating V000s for shots — initial loop-test sends that verify the pipeline is functioning correctly per shot, and allow QC of colour & framing.
Managing client edit updates — keeping shot information, frame ranges and editorial timelines accurately up to date across the show.
Owning and maintaining our internal review tool for each show, ensuring it is always current and that all required information is released in a timely manner to support dailies and review sessions studio-wide.
Creating internal and client-facing minicuts, primarily working in Hiero
Supporting in-studio review sessions and workflows where required, helping to ensure dailies and client reviews can run smoothly.
Collaborating with the Pipeline team on the ongoing development of department and studio workflows, with a focus on scalability, accuracy and ease of use.
Working closely with Production to ensure our ShotGrid database remains accurate and up to date from an Editorial perspective.
Salary range: $70,000 - $100,000 CAD annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
